Strategies For Building A Sustainability Team
What would our world look like if we focused on the positive stories about how the environment and business are connected?
We are constantly bombarded with heartbreaking examples of how human error is affecting the environment: utility companies starting fires, corporate greed damaging the earth and politicians disregarding indigenous rights. These stories appear in the media each day.
However, there are so many smart, motivated people in conscious companies who are in action and striving to create a better world for all of us.
In this presentation, Nikki Pava, a Presidio Graduate School alumna and author of Green Wisdom: A Guide for Anyone to Start, Engage and Energize a Sustainability Team, will share ways that anyone at a company – from warehouse workers to CEOs – can start a sustainability (engagement) team, enroll others to participate and have fun once it is created, or re-energize a current sustainability program to have a positive impact on employees and the company.
Through examples from her book, Nikki shares what some of our favorite companies (Dr. Bronner’s, Nutiva, Interface, Mountain Rose Herbs, Alaska Airlines and more) are doing to create a convergence between business, the environment, and local communities, in addition to offering frameworks for employee engagement strategies that can be replicated in any size company to create empowering solutions for everyone.
